Hilary P. Grocott, MD, FRCPC is a Professor in the Departments of Anesthesia and Surgery at the University of Manitoba. He completed 3 years of fellowship and research training in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina where he later joined the faculty and was appointed Professor (with tenure) in 2006. He relocated to the University of Manitoba, but continues to hold the position of Adjunct Professor of Anesthesiology at Duke University. His research interests largely relate to the cerebral sequelae of cardiac surgery, where he has performed extensive experimental work in his laboratory. More recently, he has focused on clinical neuroprotection studies, as well as studies related to bleeding, inflammation, and perioperative genomics.
