Professor Rega is Associate Professor and Associate Head of Clinic of the Department of Cardiac Surgery from the University Hospitals Leuven, Leuven, Belgium (Chief Prof Dr B. Meyns). He received his Ph.D in 2009 with the work entitled "Evaluation and preservation of lungs from NHBD: an experimental study". Clinically he is involved in congenital heart surgery, valvular heart surgery and heart failure. He is the surgical director of the Heart transplant program as well as the surgical electrophysiology program. His research work is focused on heart failure and congenital heart disease.
