TRAVELLING SPINAL CLINICALBURSARY

The DePuy Spine Clinical Fellowship Bursary is designed to encourage and promote the pursuit of dedicated Clinical Spine Fellowship Training. The Bursary funds are aimed to assist the successful applicants with the costs associated with attending an overseas fellow program.
There are 5 individual Bursaries available for 2009, each valued at AUD$15,000. To be eligible for consideration to be awarded a Bursary, applicants must be a current Australian or New Zealand Orthopaedic or Neurosurgical Trainee and have an overseas Spinal Surgical Fellowship program arranged to start at the end of training. SPINAL RESEARCH AWARD

This award consists of a certificate and a prize of AUD$10,000 for the most outstanding contribution in the field of basic science, biomechanics or clinical studies of the spine, presented at the 2009 Conference, to be held in Brisbane, 17 – 19 April 2009.
Papers are required to be in a form ready for submission to a scientific journal and must contain original material not previously published or presented at a major meeting. Multiple authors are acceptable. One of the authors will be required to present the paper at the meeting at their own expense and this person must be nominated at the time of submission of the article.
Papers should be submitted in PDF format by email no later than 1500 hrs Friday 09 January 2009 to 2009ssa@tayloredimages.com.au.

ROB JOHNSTON AWARD
SPONSOR – SPINE SOCIETY OF AUSTRALIA
This award consists of a certificate and a prize of AUD$1,000, which is partially funded through the Rob Johnston Trust Fund. It will be awarded to the best presentation by a Trainee or Fellow at the Annual Scientific Conference from the Spine Society of Australia.
BEST PRESENTATION AWARD
SPONSOR – MEDTRONIC
This Award of AUD$2,000 for the best paper presented by a member of the Spine Society of Australia at the conference will be offered again in 2009. The winner of the Award will be judged by the Scientific Program Committee.
BEST POSTER AWARD
SPONSOR – ORTHOTECH
This Award of AUD$1,000 for the best poster presented at the conference will be offered again in 2009. The winner of the Award will be judged by the Scientific Program Committee.
