Rarotonga - The Cook Islands
Like an elegant string of black pearls for which they are famous, the Cook Islands are spread throughout these rich, warm waters in the heart of the South Pacific.
Fifteen magical, diverse islands are spread over 2.2 million square km of these South Seas, just west of Tahiti. The Cook Islands remains an unspoiled Polynesian paradise with some of the most spectacular natural scenery in the South Pacific.
The jewel in the crown is Rarotonga, the largest island – a bewitching blend of craggy mountains, dense jungle and glorious bone-white beaches.
Rarotonga Fast Facts
Kia Orana ~ meaning 'May you live long and prosperous'. Two simple words used by Cook Islanders as a greeting. This is the spirit of the islands and the special people that inhabit this special corner of the great Pacific Ocean.
The Cook Islands is a great destination all year round; seasonal variations are slight, with temperatures ranging between 18°C and 28°C in the winter months (May to October), with no excesses of temperature or humidity, although it can rain quite often.
Don't forget to pack a 'light weight' sweater as it can get cool in the evenings during September / October.
