Dr Junjiro Kobayashi

Dr Junjiro Kobayashi has been the Director of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery in the National Cardiovascular Center in Japan since 2005. Prior to this he was the Division Head of Adult Cardiac Surgery. Dr Kobayaski graduated from Osaka University Medical School in 1980. Since graduating he has gone onto publish over 120 papers. In 2006 Dr Kobayashi won the Clinical Research Award from the Japanese Circulation Society.

Dr Paul Fedak

Dr Paul Fedak is currently an active clinical cardiac surgeon and independent research investigator at the University of Calgary. He is a "Clinical Investigator" of the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical research (AHFMR). Dr Fedak innovates and translates new therapies to improve outcomes in cardiac surgery. He is currently focused on sternal closure techniques and developing novel approaches to treat heart failure, through mechanical device, stem cell and tissue engineering platforms.

Professor John Pepper

Professor John Pepper currently holds the position of Professor of Cardiothoracics at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals NHS Trust in London. Professor Pepper graduated from Cambridge University in 1968 and went on to further his studies at Guy's Hospital Medical School. Professor Pepper specailises in adult cardiac surgery and general thoracic surgery.

Dr John Puskas

Dr John Puskas has had an active interest in minimally invasive cardiac surgery since 1996. This lead to multiple innovations in off-pump, limited access coronary artery bypass surgery. Dr Puskas has performed over 2500 off-pump coronary bypass cases, the largest in the US. Dr Puskas serves as PI for the Emory Clinical Center in the NHLBI Cardiothoracic Surgery Network. He is also Director of the Emory Cardiothoracic Clinical Research Unit and Associate Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Emory University.
